Letter: Thank you to Sheriff Bill Prim

To the Editor:

I would like to sincerely thank Sheriff Bill Prim and the McHenry County Sheriff’s office for their hard work and dedication to our community. My son is determined to become a sheriff’s deputy one day. His decision is based on his interactions with the sheriff’s department; whether it is a K-9 demonstration at a municipal community day or the Sheriff’s Office Open House, the deputies always have been kind, enthusiastic and interested in talking with him. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Sheriff Prim.

Last month, my son was really excited about attending this year’s open house so he wrote the sheriff a letter and drew him a picture. I sent off the letter and forgot all about it – until this week. There was a knock on the door, and it was Sheriff Prim with a personal invitation to the open house and a goody bag. It absolutely made my son’s entire summer. What an amazing example of true leadership. I still cannot believe he took the time out of his busy day to visit a little boy. Although this individual act is striking, it is not an isolated event.

All of our interactions with the department at a number of events have been positive and educational. I truly appreciate the emphasis his department has on building and strengthening relations with the community that they serve.

Thank you for all that you do and we will see you at the open house on Saturday.
