High school girls tennis roundup: Huntley ends Jacobs' FVC win streak

Huntley girls tennis snapped Jacobs’ Fox Valley Conference dual match winning streak, which had lasted some four years, with a 4-3 Red Raiders victory Tuesday in Algonquin.

Huntley’s Fran Mannarino defeated Jacobs’ Amber Seong, 7-5, 7-5, in No. 2 singles. The Raiders’ Carina Bowman defeated Jacobs’ Rebecca Mudge, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.

Also winning for the Raiders was the No. 3 doubles team of Jordyn Bremer and Maddy Domek, along with No. 4 doubles pair Riley Conradt and Lauren Eliscu. Huntley improved to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in the FVC.

For Jacobs, Lindsay Cunningham defeated Alex Landman in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3. The Eagles also picked up wins from Haley Steinkamp and Kylie Skepnek at No. 1 doubles, and Ramya Nissankula and Brianna Japkowski at No. 2 doubles.

Crystal Lake South 6, Prairie Ridge 1: At Prairie Ridge, the Gators swept the singles matches in a victory over Prairie Ridge.

Skylar Olsen, Lauren Schoen and Caroline Rausch all won in singles for South. Julia Kopfman and Claire Atkinson won at No. 1 doubles for the Gators. Hannah Schuetzle and Sarah Schuetzle won at No. 2 doubles and Anna Chang and Camryn Medendorp won at No. 3 doubles.

Prairie Ridge’s No. 4 doubles pair of Emily Pollock and Georgie Durrant picked up the Wolves’ lone victory.

Crystal Lake Central 7, Hampshire 0: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers swept the Whip-Purs to improve to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in the FVC. Emma Soden, Giselle Lemke and Jaylynn Kutz each won singles matches.

In doubles, Lainey Brotan and Alex Letto won at No. 1 doubles, Cortney Iden and Kyleigh Kessler won at No. 2 doubles, Alyssa Anichini and Katie Haviland won at No. 3 doubles and Cassie Preshlock and Alison Davis won at No. 4 doubles.

For Hampshire, No. 4 doubles pair Karen Ortega and Mary Ann Santos was the only flight to force a third set, falling to Preshlock and Davis, 6-1, 3-6, 10-6.

Cary-Grove 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, the Trojans swept Dundee-Crown in FVC action.

C-G’s Kaitlin Warner, Sarah Schultz and Leah Underwood each won singles matches for the Trojans.

Katie Sowa and Elizabeth Barrett won at No. 1 doubles, Karina Los and Alina Krembuszewski won at No. 2 doubles, Ava Warner and Elizabeth LaLond won at No. 3 doubles and Kelly Johnson and Jazzy Flashing won at No. 4 doubles.

McHenry 5, Rockford Lutheran 2: At McHenry, the Warriors swept all three singles matches in a nonconference victory over Rockford Lutheran. Amy Barta, Sakina Rizvi and Kimee Stachura all won singles matches.

The Warriors’ No. 3 doubles pair of Kim Barranco and Vicky Lin won their match, as did the No. 4 doubles team of Audrey Peter and Chloe Cassidy.

Woodstock North 4, Woodstock 3: At Woodstock, the Thunder swept all three singles matches to edge the crosstown rival Blue Streaks. Aly Cullotta, Faith Vela and Cassandra Howell won singles matches for the Thunder.

Also winning for North was the No. 4 doubles pair of Mariela Perez and Jasmin Carbajal.

For the Streaks, Molly Griffin and Courtney Sciarro won at No. 1 doubles. Alexa Norgard and Meghan Sutter won at No. 2 doubles. Kamryn Bogott and Eris Bocari won at No. 3 doubles.
