High school volleyball roundup: Prairie Ridge tops Jacobs; Johnsburg sweeps Woodstock North

Erin McNeil and Trinity Sheridan each had six kills as Prairie Ridge defeated Jacobs, 25-14, 25-11, in their Fox Valley Conference volleyball match Tuesday in Crystal Lake.

Jayden Otto added five kills,17 assists and one serving ace for the Wolves (5-1 overall, 5-1 FVC). Mackenzie Garis had 16 digs and McNeil added eight.

Jacobs fell to 2-9, 0-6.

Crystal Lake South 2, Hampshire 0: At Crystal Lake, Megan House and Aurora Nero recorded eight and six kills, respectively, to top the Gators' 25-18, 25-21 victory.

Jamie Maule led the Gators (3-3, 3-3 FVC) defensively with 10 digs, and setter Emily Slimko kept the offense moving with 15 assists.

Crystal Lake Central 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, the Tigers (11-1, 6-1) had 18 assists from Olivia Doak as they defeated the Chargers in their FVC match, 25-9, 25-16.

Megan Kelly and Emily Kelly each had six kills to lead Central. Madeline Timmerman added five kills and Kendall Lownds had 12 digs for the Tigers, who host Prairie Ridge on Thursday.

For D-C, Jenna Thelen had three kills and a block. Irene Martin had three kills and four digs. Jenna Brown had two kills and six assists. Zoe Sitarz contributed four digs. Carolyn Ptaszek and Claire Muhvic each had three digs. Muhvic added four assists as well.

Marian Catholic 2, Marian Central 1: At Chicago Heights, the Hurricanes dropped an East Suburban Catholic Conference match, 20-25, 25-22, 25-14, in a rematch of last year's Class 3A state championship match.

Mae Novakoski provided the Hurricanes (5-7, 1-1 ESCC) with six kills, six digs and three aces. Issy Nick also had six kills to go along with six digs and a block. Kate Messino added 21 assists, three kills and an ace, while Ashley Biron had seven digs and two aces.

Richmond-Burton 2, Harvard 0: At Harvard, the Rockets moved back to .500 on the season with their 25-14, 25-5 win in Kishwaukee River Conference action.

Abby Svenson supplied R-B (6-6, 1-1 KRC) with nine kills, five digs and an ace. Kayla Malec added four kills to go along with a block and an ace, and Bailey Dean had 16 assists.

Harvard (0-6, 0-2) received seven assists and three aces from Katie Loughran. Haley Tittle had two blocks, Desiree Brady had two kills, and Macy Witz picked up six digs.

Johnsburg 2, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Skyhawks swept the Thunder, 25-16, 25-18, in KRC action. Johnsburg’s Kimmy Hammond had 16 digs, five aces and three assists. Abby Wemple led the Skyhawks with 11 kills and also added a block. Leah Kottke added six digs and Adisyn Illg recorded 12 assists in the victory.

Burlington Central 2, Marengo 1: At Marengo, the Indians were able to force a third set before ultimately falling, 25-23, 16-25, 25-15, in KRC action.

Marengo (7-5, 2-1) received four aces, three kills and two blocks from Emily Euker. Hannah Faber chipped in with six kills, Lillie Simons had four kills and three blocks, and Abigail Vito added 20 assists, five kills and an ace.

Kaetlyn Jeschke and Anna Walsweer had 18 and 13 digs, respectively, and each added an ace.

Grayslake Central 2, Woodstock 1: At Grayslake, the Blue Streaks couldn't sustain their early momentum in a 25-27, 25-13, 25-13 nonconference loss.

Sophie Wicker dished out 20 assists with Julia Langton finishing with nine kills. Hanna Berry and Lauryn Hahn (six digs) each added six kills. Maddy Hughes had nine digs.
