1. McHenry (27-2): The top-seeded Warriors survived a scare from No. 9 Streamwood, beating the Sabres, 56-53, to advance to Thursday's Class 4A Prairie Ridge Regional championship. Standing in the way of McHenry's first regional title since 2004 is No. 5 Crystal Lake Central.
2. Dundee-Crown (18-9): The No. 2 Chargers took care of No. 10 Larkin, 55-31, with a strong defensive effort spearheaded by senior guard Anna Kieltyka (six steals) and sophomore guard Katelyn Skibinski (17 points). D-C aims for its fourth straight regional title at the 4A South Elgin Regional final against Cary-Grove on Thursday.
3. Cary-Grove (18-10): The third-seeded Trojans jumped all over No. 6 South Elgin in a 69-37 win at the South Elgin Regional, led by junior Maddie Jannusch with 18 points and senior Katie Sowa with 15. The Trojans haven't won a regional title since winning four in a row from 2010 to 2013, but they'll get a chance to end the drought against D-C.
4. Marengo (21-8): The No. 5 Indians edged No. 4 Rock Falls, 39-38, in the Class 3A Marengo Regional, setting up a date against Kishwaukee River Conference champion Burlington Central (27-3) in the final. The Rockets beat Marengo in both regular-season meetings. The Indians' 21 wins are their most since 2012, and they're searching for their first regional title since 2005.
5. Johnsburg (17-13): Some how, some way, the Skyhawks find themselves a win away from their third consecutive regional title. Without its top two leading scorers, Morgan Madsen (16.3 points) and Kayla Stefka (16.3), No. 5 Johnsburg took the lead against No. 11 Ridgewood just before the half and pulled away for a 60-41 win in the 3A Ridgewood Regional semifinals. Megan Madsen finished with 20 points and Heather Arden (11 points) and Katelyn Davis (9) each had three 3s.
