CRYSTAL LAKE – What appeared to be a heavy snow shower blasted McHenry County just before lunchtime – but meteorologists say any significant accumulation is highly unlikely.
"Shouldn't last long," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Amy Seeley just before noon Tuesday.
The snow shower lowered visibility for less than a half hour Tuesday as snow fluttered in every direction – but the ground is too warm for any of that snow to stick.
"The best you're going to get is a couple tenths of an inch on grassy surfaces," Seeley said.
Snow showers are expected to end early Tuesday evening, according to a hazardous weather outlook from the weather service.
