Letter: We're proud of Woodstock High students

To the Editor:

To Woodstock High School students,

I, along with numerous members of this community in Woodstock, your neighbors, andf amily members have been thinking about you since Feb. 14, when Florida students were experiencing a horrific school shooting.

Since that day, we have watched students rise up, speak out and become activists, demanding change in our system of government to keep students safe. I am terribly proud of these brave students who, in their own grief, have chosen to stand up and speak out for the sake of all. They have great parents, wonderful teachers and other adults who have modeled caring and compassion for others.

On March 14, you honored the memories of the students and teachers who were killed in Parkland. This was a difficult time for you, your teachers and administrators. Perhaps many of you are experiencing your own grief and are wondering if this could happen to you.  We join you in saying "Never Again!"

Each Woodstock student is important to us. We must learn anew to celebrate one another and the unique gifts and talents that you each possess. Follow your instincts, and don’t be afraid to challenge what needs to be improved.

Remember that you are loved and God shines that light of love for all of you.
