Huntley Plan Commission set to review Beef Shack petition

Thermoform Engineered Quality addition on agenda

After an abrupt cancellation of the Huntley Plan Commission’s last meeting, a special use permit request to open a drive-thru Beef Shack restaurant in Huntley will be up for consideration Monday.

The proposal originally was meant for consideration during the commission’s Sept. 24 meeting, but because one of the commissioners had a death in the family, a quorum could not be established, and the meeting was canceled.

The petitioner’s proposal will require the construction of a drive-thru lane and associated site improvements to accommodate the restaurant within an estimated 1,750-square-foot lease space at 12372 Princeton Drive, according to a public hearing notice from the village.

Beef Shack has locations in
St. Charles, DeKalb and Elgin, and it is in the process of opening a site in Joliet. Its menu, which varies by location, features beef and cheese sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, Chicago hot dogs, Italian sausage, cheesy garlic bread and salad.

Also on Monday’s agenda is a site plan review of a proposal to build a 46,800-square-foot addition at Thermoform Engineered Quality’s 84,000-square-foot office and warehouse at the corner of Main and Bakley streets.

The addition to the building’s warehouse will extend north from the existing building, will include two additional loading dock bays and is expected to add 30 to 40 employees. In September, the board allowed the company to begin mass grading on the site in anticipation of a formal approval.

The Plan Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Village Hall,
10987 Main St.
