McHenry emergency officials are investigating the cause of a fire that burned through the floor of a home in the 200 block of Oakton Court on Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.
About 12:15 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from the two-story building. Two engine companies and an ambulance crew entered the home to discover the floor leading to the stairwell had been burned through, according to the release.
Crews then entered through the second floor to search for any victims and found that no one was in the home.
The fire was under control within minutes, and no one was injured, according to the release.
As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, a cause and damage estimate for the fire was unknown.
First responders from the Crystal Lake, Nunda Township, Round Lake, Spring Grove and Cary units either assisted at the scene or covered other McHenry firehouses during the incident.
