To the Editor:
What would you say if your mortgage company asked you in the last year of your 15-year mortgage if you would agree to cut your monthly mortgage payment by 50 percent, but to do so you would have to pay it for another
15 years? Doesn’t sound like a good deal, does it? Well, that is what McHenry High School District 156 is asking you in the upcoming $44 million referendum question, to quote them, “Vote yes for this referendum and your taxes will go down $75 on a $200,000 home!” What they fail to add is that if you vote no, your taxes would go down $325!
The choice is yours on this and the McHenry Recreation Center referendum to add a $30 million water park/rec facility in the city of McHenry. Vote no on both the city and the school district referendums for a combined savings of $500.
