Letter: Thoughts on the news

To the Editor:

Let’s look at today’s news in a new light.

Russian influence. I didn’t read of a single Russian citizen voting in the 2016 or other election. Public Broadcasting Service had a two-hour special on Facebook and 1½ hours on election problems. The good thing about Facebook is it lets you get your idea out without censorship by the news media.

As long as you have Facebook, anyone can state their idea. People are pro and con on lots of issues. Vote fraud is easily committed with computers. It takes 30 seconds to slip a chip into the machine, and it will count the votes like you want them, as demonstrated on PBS broadcast.

The only way is paper ballots and a machine that a test run of ballots is put through to make sure they are counted accurately. Lock up the paper ballots in case a recount is needed. With a computer, you cannot double-check the vote.

GM and its downsizing by 14,000 production workers and the retirement offer to 18,000 white collar workers. You cannot pay approximate wages and fringes of $100 an hour in the U.S. if Mexico pays $7.50 wages and fringe and China $3 wage and fringe (Financial Times).

On border security, God limits who goes to heaven, so we also should be able to limit. In 1776, our forefathers with guns got freedom from England. If both sides (Cold War from 1948 on) can destroy themselves, you can have peace. Help the leaders develop their economy through advice.

In my view, lots of people worry about things that don’t matter in the long run.

P.S.: If Donald Trump wants to be re-elected, he should appoint Ivanka Trump campaign manager.
