Here is a list of winter parking restrictions in McHenry County.
Winter parking regulations are in effect between Oct. 31 and April 15 each year. Parking is prohibited on any public street in the village between 2 and
5 a.m. In addition, it is unlawful to park on the street after any snowfall of 2 or more inches unless the street has been cleared of snow.
The village’s parking restrictions are in effect from Dec. 1 to Feb. 28. During this time, on-street parking is not allowed between 1 and 6 a.m. It is unlawful to park on streets within 12 hours of a snowfall of 3 or more inches.
Residents are asked not to park on city streets at night. Parking is prohibited from 2 to 6 a.m.
Fox River Grove
From November through March, after 2 inches or more of snow/ice and extending 12 hours after snowfall ends, there is no parking on any parkway or within 6 feet of the edge of any road, with the exception of approved parking pads. The 900 block of Ski Hill Road is exempt.
A snow emergency shall exist within the city when 2 or more inches of snow has occurred, or whenever the Public Works director or his designee declares that a snow emergency exists.
During a snow emergency, it is unlawful for any vehicle to be parked on any public street or parking lot in the city. Any vehicle in violation of this provision will be ticketed and towed by or at the direction of the city. The owner of the vehicle, as well as the person who caused said vehicle to stop, stand or park, shall be individually liable for all expenses incurred as a result of towing the vehicle away. Residents’ cooperation by parking off the street during any snowfall, even when less than 2 inches, will make the task of clearing the streets safer and more efficient.
No parking is allowed on any village street within eight hours of a snowfall of 2 or more inches.
There is no parking allowed on any village street from 2 to 6 a.m., or whenever 2 or more inches of snow is expected.
Lake in the Hills
On-street parking is prohibited after 1 inch of snowfall.
No parking is allowed on the roads after 2 or more inches of snow has fallen.
No parking is allowed if the snow on the street is more than 2 inches. Parking restrictions will continue for eight hours or until snow removal is complete.
Parking is prohibited between 2 and 6 a.m. on streets or in any city-owned lots or park parking lots.
Parking is prohibited on streets if snow accumulates to 2 or more inches between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., or if snow removal is happening on the street.
A parking ban will be in effect until the snow removal process is complete on both sides of the street or block.
Parking is prohibited when snow is being removed or the streets are being cleaned.
Parking is banned on these streets after 11 p.m. after 3 or more inches of snowfall: Benton from Van Buren to Church, Calhoun from Tryon to Madison, Cass from Throop to Benton, Church from Main to Madison, Clay from Church to Newell, Dean from South to Van Buren, East Jackson from Benton to Jefferson, East Judd from Benton to Madison, Jefferson from South to Church, Johnson from Calhoun to Cass, Main from Cass to Church, South from Tryon to Dean, Throop from South to Washington, Van Buren from Johnson to Benton, Washington from Wheeler to Main, West Jackson from Tryon to Johnson and West Judd from Tryon to Throop. Vehicles may be towed.
Parking is allowed in public lots even after a snow event; however, vehicles parked in any of the downtown lots may not exceed any 24-hour period. In addition, from time to time, any of the lots may be closed temporarily for maintenance to clear excess snow.
No parking on village streets between 2 and 6 a.m. or after 2 inches of snow has fallen.
