Letter: Deficits must be discussed

President Trump, Republicans, and Democrats apparently believe that by not discussing deficits and the national debt that deficits will become surpluses and the debt will shrink. Proof that they are wrong is the fact that the deficit this year is projected to exceed $ 1 trillion and the debt has now passed 22 trillion - which is a lot of billions

Instead of focusing on the debt and deficit and offering ideas on how to reduce our soaring debt, Democrats during the recent debates advanced ideas that would only increase deficits and the debt. Which for Democrats was not surprising.

When members of Congress ran for election or re-election they promised to reduce wasteful government spending. One day voters will wake up and realize that there is nothing so fragile as a politician's campaign promise.
