Maxum Caesar, Cary-Grove, sr. – Caesar had a terrific junior season and was a Northwest Herald All-Area second-teamer. He took fifth in the McHenry County Meet, third in the FVC Meet and 16th at the Class 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional, earning him a trip to the IHSA Boys Cross Country State Meet. He was 103rd in the Class 3A race.
Andrew Doetsch, Jacobs, so. – Doetsch turned in a remarkable rookie high school season that finished with a 32nd-place finish at the Class 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional. Doetsch took ninth in the FVC Meet, helping the Golden Eagles to second place as a team. He was ninth in the Grant Regional. He earned All-Area honorable-mention status.
Ian Geisler, Huntley, sr. – Geisler was the Northwest Herald Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year after taking 17th in the Class 3A State Meet to make All-State. Geisler was FVC runner-up, Guilford Regional champion and Waubonsie Valley Sectional runner-up to lead the Red Raiders team to state. He has been an All-Area first-team pick the last two years.
Ryan Jones, Marian Central, sr. – Jones finished 24th in the Class 2A State Meet to make All-State for the first time in his high school career. He had been close twice in Class 1A, then made it when the Hurricanes were pushed up to 2A. Jones was East Suburban Catholic Conference runner-up, Woodstock Regional champion and was seventh in the Woodstock North Sectional. He was named to the All-Area second team.
Peter Walsdorf, Marian Central, jr. – Walsdorf had a breakthrough sophomore season and missed a trip to the state meet by one spot at the Class 2A Woodstock North Sectional. He had a strong year with a fifth-place finish in the ESCC Meet and 12th at sectional. He carried that through to the spring and qualified for the Class 2A 3,200 meters in state track.
