Officials are waiting on toxicology results to determine the time and cause of death for Aidan Beckford, an 18-year-old Huntley man whose body was found by a volunteer search crew on Saturday.
The McHenry County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy Monday morning, but couldn’t yet say when or how the young man died. Toxicology and pathology reports that haven’t yet been completed could provide investigators with the information they need, interim McHenry County Coroner John Miller said. The reports could take several weeks to be finalized.
Volunteers discovered Beckford’s body Saturday in Nunda Township – eight days after the teen’s family reported him missing. Beckford did not appear to have suffered any significant physical trauma, Miller said.
Family searched tirelessly for Beckford and organized at least two separate search parties in the area near Nish Road and Highview Drive, where the young man was reportedly last seen alive.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and several outside agencies also searched the area with boats, police dogs, and drones in the week following Beckford’s reported disappearance.
