Hanna Berry had 10 kills and three blocks to lead Woodstock's girls volleyball team in a 25-19, 25-18 victory over Marengo in Kishwaukee River Conference play Wednesday. The Blue Streaks (9-0, 2-0 KRC) remain unbeaten.
Woodstock's Lauren Hahn added seven kills, and Emma Brand had six kills and two blocks. Sophie Wicker had 21 assists, nine digs and two aces. Maddie Hughes had eight digs.
Marengo (5-3-2, 0-1) was led by Lillie Simons with eight blocks and five kills. Kaetlyn Jeschke added 10 digs. Isabella Simonini had seven assists, eight digs and a kill.
Johnsburg 2, Harvard 0: At Harvard, Rayna Wilkinson had eight aces for Johnsburg in a KRC win over Harvard, 25-16, 25-6.
Kate Linkletter had five aces, and Makayla Huff added three aces and 12 assists. Shannon Flynn led the Skyhawks (1-7, 1-1) with five kills. Abbey Bratek had seven digs defensively.
Dianayeli Plata had two digs for Harvard (0-5, 0-2). Aylia Lemus added one kill. Bianca Reyes and Alex Cooke each had one ace and one assist.
Christian Liberty Academy 2, Alden-Hebron 0: At Hebron, Anna Webber had five digs, three kills and two aces for the Giants in a 25-18, 25-10 Northeastern Athletic Conference loss. Kendra Cashmore contributed four digs and two kills. Karly Strand had eight assists and a block.
Richmond-Burton 3, Woodstock North 2: At Woodstock, Hayden Rudkin scored one goal and assisted on another for R-B in a KRC win.
Rudkin assisted on Ethan Demers’ first-half goal. R-B’s Marshall Beverly added a second goal on the rebound after a Demers penalty kick attempt. R-B (6-3, 3-0) led, 2-1, at halftime.
Rudkin added the third goal, with an assist from Carson Webb. Rockets goalkeeper Jacob Maldonado made nine saves.
Alan Castanon and Jesus Diaz scored goals for the Thunder (1-5, 1-1). Damien Alonzo had one assist.
Woodstock 6, Marengo 0: At Woodstock, Oscar Escorza scored two goals and had three assists as the Blue Streaks (8-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten with a victory over the Indians (1-6, 0-2) in their KRC game.
Victor Cazares and Mac Buckley each had a goal and an assist. Denis Gjoni and Eli Woodson also scored, and goalkeeper Stephan Turskey made three saves.
Harvard 2, Johnsburg 1: At Harvard, trailing by a goal at halftime, the Hornets rallied behind goals from Manny Mercado and Brayan Hernandez for a KRC victory. Mercado and Oger Bernal each recorded an assist for Harvard (2-5, 1-1). Johnsburg falls to 1-5 and 0-3 in the KRC.
St. Viator 5, Marian Central 1: At Woodstock, Chris Ghita scored the only goal for the Hurricanes (4-3, 1-2) in an East Suburban Catholic Conference loss.
Crystal Lake Central quad: At Crystal Lake, Crystal Lake Central won both its dual meets, defeating Marian Central, 3-2, and Wauconda, 3-2. Central’s Julia Fier won at No. 2 singles in both duals.
Ellie McGinnis picked up a win at No. 1 singles for Crystal Lake Central (5-2) against Wauconda, as did Lauren Fier and Caroline Dayon at No. 3 doubles.
Against Marian, Kenna Kessler and Emma Grindstaff won at No. 1 doubles, and Haley Steinberg and Olivia Johnson won at No. 2 doubles. Marian’s Megan Dowling won at No. 1 singles. Gabrielle Kaminski and Sarah Scheper won at No. 3 doubles.
Marian Central picked up a victory against McHenry, 3-2. Dowling won at No. 1 singles. Sophia McManus and Tess Meisnor won at No. 2 doubles, while Kylie Lindquist and Kelsey Miner won at No. 3 doubles.
McHenry’s Lani Cox won at No. 2 singles. Magie Diaz and Jacky Mendez won at No. 1 doubles.
Wauconda defeated McHenry, 3-2, in another dual. McHenry’s Katrina Neufeld won at No. 1 singles, while Bailey Musnicki and Eileen Zheng picked up a victory at No. 3 doubles by injury forfeit.
Woodstock North 5, Johnsburg 2: At Woodstock, Aly Cullotta (No. 1) and Maggie Thomas (No. 3) won at singles as the Thunder defeated the Skyhawks in KRC play.
Lydia Dunker and Kaitlyn Mauch (No. 2), Alejandra Galindo and Anika Treadway (No. 3) and Gabriela Galindo and Bethany Lintner (No. 4) won at doubles for the Thunder.
Burlington Central 168, Jacobs 195: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Roslyn Leitner led Jacobs with a 39. Other Golden Eagles’ top scorers were Lauren Kempf (42), Jordan Miller (55) and Autumn Kovach (59).
Marengo 216, Richmond-Burton 222: At Nippersink in Genoa City, Wisconsin, R-B’s Makenna Donohoe shot 49 to win medalist honors in the Rockets’ KRC loss to the Indians.
Carlie Seemann and Adriana Georgiades each shot 50s to lead Marengo. Brooke Aubry and Kiley Christopher each shot 58s.
Alaina Robinson had a 53, and Sierra Simecek had a 57 for R-B.
Crystal Lake Central co-op 189, Hampshire 201: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Gianna Farinella shot a 42 for medalist honors, and Delaney Marcuccilli shot 44 to lead the Whip-Purs in a loss to the Tigers.
Woodstock co-op 90, McHenry 79: At Woodstock, Hayley Halsall and Lucia Alcazar each won two events as the Blue Streaks defeated the Warriors in their FVC dual meet.
Halsall won the 100-yard butterfly and 500 freestyle, and Alcazar won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
Angelina Scolio, Alcazar, Halsall, and Autumn Zimmerman won the 200 medley relay. Abbie Heidtke, Angelina Scolio, Halsall and Zimmerman captured the 200 free relay.
For McHenry, Riley Tobin won the 200 freestyle, Paige Bantner won the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Melisa Nava took first in the 100 backstroke.
Bantner, Kristy Robinson, Andrea Avila and Nava won the 400 free relay.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Hampshire double dual: Ian Knebl, Carlos Montes and Enrique Robless took the second through fourth spots as McHenry won a pair of FVC dual meets against Cary-Grove, 22-38, and Hampshire, 15-48.
Hampshire beat C-G, 28-29, in the other dual.
C-G’s Maxum Caesar won the race in 16:29, with the three McHenry runners at 16:35 to 16:36, followed by C-G’s Ian Barnes at 16:37. McHenry had three more runners finish 6-8.
Hampshire’s first runners were Aidan Gonzalez and Darius Nguipe in ninth and 10th.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Hampshire double dual: McHenry’s Lydia Zancho took the top spot, followed by seven Cary-Grove runners in an FVC double dual meet on Tuesday.
Zancho won in 18:35, followed by C-G’s Maggie Mason (18:47), Morgan Dieschbourg (19:01) and Delaney Blohm (19:31).
C-G beat Hampshire, 15-50, and McHenry, 20-43. McHenry edged Hampshire, 27-28.
Hampshire’s Stella Oury was ninth and Lindsey Baron 10th.
