Letters to the Editor

Letter: Perception management

To the Editor:

In 2008, the author, David Baldacci, released his book entitled "The Whole Truth." For those that have not read this book or for those that forgot what the book is about, it is a work of fiction about a billionaire owner, of a major defense contractor, that decides he needs to surreptitiously start a war to improve his personal and corporate earnings, so, he hires the best perception management firm in the country to start that war.

PM's are not spin doctors because they don't spin facts. They create facts and then sell them to the world as the truth. Mark Twain, wrote that this type of news reporting is the difference between the lightning bug and lightning.

To paraphrase, a recent letter to the Northwest Herald, even if Trump is an arrogant, egotistical, narcissist, logically speaking, that automatically, does not make him a fascist, a Nazi or the 5th Horseman of the Apocalypse....maybe crude, rude and socially unacceptable?

However, major untruths can be established so quickly and overwhelmingly across the world that no digging by anyone after the fact can make a dent in the public consciousness that it actually isn't true at all.

The resistance has effectively and efficiently created facts and untruths since early 2016 ... the lies contained in the Steele Dossier, paid for by the Clinton campaign, was used to initiate the Trump/Russian Collusion story ... even the final Mueller Report cannot undue the damaging perceptions of some of my fellow citizens.
