Letter: Happy in Huntley, a town with pride

To the Editor:

In mid-December 2004, I left the traffic-congested mess of Algonquin and moved to Huntley.

In the almost 15 years I have lived here, I have noticed a lot about this community, and it is all positive. But how can this be?

Well, it is a combination of the people who are in charge of the town and the people who live here. And it all boils down to one word: pride.

We have a mayor in Chuck Sass who takes pride in the town and the work he does. A Village Board, a combination of both younger and senior citizens. The people who work in Village Hall. Our public works employees.

Friendly, hard workers but lousy tree trimmers.

Both the police and fire departments are second to none. And a lot of credit to the person who makes sure everything runs smoothly, City Manager Dave Johnson.

Among the people who live here, most will tell you that it is a wonderful town. It is clean, it is safe and there is usually plenty to do not only in town but also nearby.

There are great organizations, the American Legion being one of them. And the last to be mentioned, but the best of them all, The Huntley Dairy Mart. Oh, its chocolate sodas are so good.
