A Woodstock nursing home has been ranked among the top nursing homes in America, according to U.S. News and World Report.
The publication recently named Hearthstone Manor, at Hearthstone Communities by Heritage in Woodstock, as one of America’s Best Nursing Homes for Short-Term Rehabilitation. The publication identified the best nursing homes for 2019-20 and also released the nursing home finder by ranking more than 15,000 homes across the nation.
Jeremy Rutter, Heritage vice president of skilled nursing operations, said the recognition was because of the hard work and dedication of the Hearthstone Manor staff.
“The reason why [our staff] is here is because they love the residents,” Rutter said. “They’re here because of a calling, [and] that feeling permeates the organization. We do what’s right for the resident, first and foremost.”
He said this is believed to be the first time the nursing home, 840 N. Seminary Ave., has been ranked on that list.
This achievement is a reflection of employees’ daily work, Rutter said.
“I’m proud of the staff here, and I feel they are a representative of all the staff at Heritage Ministries, not just Hearthstone Manor,” he said. “Just like I tell my staff, every day we have the chance to prove if we are a top-notch facility or to disprove it. ... Our motto is ‘caring is our calling,’ and I can’t stress how true that is.”
Heritage Ministries, the parent company of Hearthstone, was founded as the Orphanage and Homes of the Free Methodist Church in 1886 and has expanded from its original campus in Gerry, New York, to six locations in New York with additional affiliations in the states of Washington, Illinois and Pennsylvania. The nonprofit provider of senior care and housing employs about 1,500 people and serves more than 2,500 individuals annually.
