To the Editor:
Preceding my presentation supporting the County Board proposal to place an advisory referendum on the ballot to restructure the Regional Office of Education, three McHenry County educators spoke in opposition to the advisory referendum. I listened in disbelief as they voiced their support for the Regional Office of Education. How can these three McHenry County Educators support this office which has multiple errors in financial reporting, employees making errors or omissions in materials, basic accounting errors, grant funding errors, and failure to submit required state financial statements in a timely manner? Given the dysfunctional operations of the ROE, how can McHenry County School districts responsibility seek assistance from the terribly flawed ROE? Based upon an authentic assessment of the last four years of the unacceptable performance of the ROE, I welcome and support the actions of the McHenry County Board to re-structure the ROE.
