Get ready for The Addams Family, a musical delight presented by the Williams Street Repertory in Crystal Lake! Boasting a stellar cast and crew, the production does a wonderful job of taking the iconic characters and putting them in situations that deliver all the Addams' kookiness that fans love, but also show their human side. Amanda Flahive, taking on the role of Morticia Addams, is a natural for the part.
"I've loved musicals since early childhood, singing Julie Andrews and Ellen Greene to my stuffed animals," said Flahive. "I performed in high school musicals, and went on to study at Millikin University. I worked in regional theatres and toured the U.S. before returning to the Chicago area. I've found a home at Raue Center - The Addams Family is my 25th show there!"
Flahive is excited to play the role of Morticia Addams. "I love Morticia for her quick wit and her brazen self-confidence," she explained. "She's sexy, powerful, complex, and unapologetically herself, and it's so fun to walk in her shoes for a few hours. I get to do a lot of spectacular production numbers, which are a treat - and William Marquez, who plays my Gomez, is an absolute dream to work with. We really dig into these characters and have entirely too much fun! The script is hilarious, it's hard not to laugh in the middle of a scene."
Flahive, who also serves as Education Manager for Raue Center and leads Sage Studio, the in-house theatre education program, is proud to work at such a beautiful theatre where the staff works hard to deliver an amazing product for audiences. "Williams Street Repertory is the only professional theatre company in McHenry County, so it's an amazing opportunity to see great professional theatre without having to go to downtown Chicago," she said. "We've attracted top-level talent for this show, and the cast and creative team is loaded with excitement!"
