Lyne leads victory with 39 at Turnberry

Crystal Lake Central co-op’s Molly Lyne led all golfers with a 39 in a Fox Valley Conference win over Jacobs, 185-188, on Tuesday at Turnberry in Lakewood. Renata Petersen (46), Abby Rubsam (47) and Jo Greeley (53) also scored for Central.

Jacobs’ Lauren Kempf and Roslyn Leitner each shot a 40. Jordan Miller (51) and Autumn Kovach (57) were the Golden Eagles’ other top golfers.

McHenry 187, Marengo 223: At Boone Creek in Bull Valley, Sarah Fergus led all golfers with a 44 for the Warriors in a nonconference win. Kelsey Morrison (47), Jocelyn Currie (48) and Carly Wolf (48) also led the way for the Warriors.

Brooke Aubry shot a 47 to lead Marengo. Carlie Seemann (50), Adriana Georgiades (62) and Mary Grace Reed (64) also scored for the Indians.

Prairie Ridge vs. Marian Central: At Chalet Hills in Oakwood Hills, Elizabeth Tucker led all golfers with a 42. Jo Gindorf shot a 54, Alexis Baron scored a 56 and Katie Gilmore and Ellie King tied with a 60.

Lauren McNulty’s 45 led Marian, which doesn’t have enough golfers for a full match. Ava Notaro shot a 52.


Elgin Country Club Invitational: Jacobs shot a 332 as a team to finish fifth out of 16 teams. Huntley (342) finished sixth, Dundee-Crown (348) took seventh and Hampshire (397) was 13th. Waubonsie Valley won the event with a 323.

Jacobs’ Andrew Rechsteiner tied for ninth individually with an 80. Jordan Stone (82) and Jason Seaholm (82) tied for 12th. Richie Gross (88) also scored for the Golden Eagles.

Danny Sheedy’s 84 led Huntley. Trevor Wolinsky shot an 85, Trevor Book scored an 86 and Cole Modrich shot an 87.

Top scorers for Dundee-Crown were Jake Zirlin (83), who tied for 14th, Matt McQuillen (85), Aidan Svec (87) and Kyle Huber (93).

Hampshire’s Bobby Stephenson shot a team-best 95. CJ Lundquist shot a 100. Payton Yee and Ethan Hammond each scored a 101.

Richmond-Burton 190, Harvard 200: At Twin Lakes Country Club in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, Ryan Eskuri shot a 43 to lead R-B past Harvard. Connor L’Esperance (45), Jordan Grons and Garasin Haley (59) also scored for R-B.

Harvard’s James Crout led all golfers with a 41. Hunter Gratz shot a 50, Jake Chupich had a 51, and Saul Osario and Javan Rodgers each shot a 58.

Crystal Lake South 153, Crystal Lake Central 168: At Turnberry in Lakewood, John Lishchynsky and Ricky Falbo each shot a 37 to lead South to an FVC win. Will Stewart shot a 38 and Jack Roberts rounded out the scoring with a 41.

Eric Klutke led Central with a 39. Bayden Hubacher (40), Quinn Hankins (42) and Andrew Wilkinson (47) each scored for the Tigers.

Elgin Country Club Invitational: Huntley finished sixth out of 16 teams with a 342 team score. Danny Sheedy’s 84 led the Red Raiders. Trevor Wolinsky shot an 85, Trevor Book scored an 86 and Cole Modrich shot an 87.


Jacobs 2, Boylan 1: At the Barrington Classic, Liam Armstrong scored once and assisted on Alex Nicastro’s goal in a nonconference win over Boylan. Josh Allen made seven saves and allowed one goal for the Golden Eagles (2-0-2).

Zion-Benton 3, Crystal Lake South 0: At the Wauconda Tournament, Carson Hill made seven saves for South (2-1-1) in a nonconference loss to Zion-Benton.

Cary-Grove 2, Harvard 0: At the Grant Tournament, Dario Gamboa had a goal and an assist for C-G (1-1) in a nonconference win over Harvard. Mateo Nunez also scored a goal. Sam Kedzior made three saves for C-G. Harvard’s Aldo Popoca made seven saves in the loss for Harvard (0-4).

McHenry 3, Marian Central 1: At McHenry, the Warriors won in nonconference action.

Marian’s Chris Ghita scored off an assist from Nic Iafigliola. Caleb Taylor made 14 saves for the Hurricanes (3-1).

Dundee-Crown 3, Grayslake North 1: At Grayslake, D-C scored three second-half goals to come from behind and beat Grayslake North in nonconference play. Jason Miller scored two goals for the Chargers (3-1).

Julian Saldana scored a goal and added an assist. Roland Dearborn had two assists. D-C keeper Venancio Mejia made one save in the first half. Nathan Becker made two saves in the second half.


Richmond-Burton 2, Byron 0: At Byron, Jordyn Duncan had eight kills, seven digs and three aces, while Sammy Duncan added eight digs, seven kills and three aces in a 25-21, 25-16 nonconference win for the Rockets.

Jesse Klicker had 11 assists and three aces for the Rockets (1-1). Bella Cecchi had seven digs and two assists.

Huntley 2, McHenry 0: At McHenry, Kylie Jenkins had seven kills and 10 digs for the Red Raiders in a 25-15, 25-16 FVC victory, Taylor Jakubowski had 20 assists and six digs for Huntley (4-0, 3-0). Emma Konie had six digs and two aces.

McHenry drops to 2-2 and 1-2 in the FVC.

Burlington Central 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At Burlington, Natalia Smiech had 11 kills and seven digs for the Chargers in an FVC loss. Jenna Brown added 19 assists and seven digs for D-C (0-3, 0-3). Mia Seaton also had seven digs and an ace.

Cary-Grove 2, Crystal Lake South 0: At Crystal Lake, the Trojans (2-1, 2-1) picked up an FVC win over South, 25-23, 25-14.

South’s Jenna Rhoades had 11 assists and seven digs. Kenzie Wilson contributed six digs, and Samantha Wesoly had four kills for the Gators (1-2, 1-2).

Jacobs 2, Hampshire 0: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles (2-1, 2-1) won, 25-17, 25-20. Hampshire drops to 1-3 and 0-3 in the FVC.

Grayslake North 2, Johnsburg 0: At Johnsburg, Abbey Bratek had seven digs for the Skyhawks in a 25-12, 25-13 nonconference loss. Shannon Flynn had two kills, a block and two aces. Allie Burke and Jessica Cramer each had two kills for Johnsburg.

Elgin Academy 2, Alden-Hebron 0: At Hebron, Anna Webber had 13 digs for the Giants in a 25-9, 25-18 loss. Kendra Cashmore added nine kills and two aces. Abby Wanderer had four kills and two aces. Karly Strand contributed 17 assists.


Hampshire 5, Marengo 2: At Hampshire, Kaylee Patthana and Grace Rose won matches at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, for Hampshire in a nonconference win. Paloma Hamilton and Anika Patel won at No. 1 doubles, May Kimura and Karolina Ryzka won at No. 3 doubles and Alessandra Valladares and Julianna Ernst won at No. 4 doubles for the Whips.

Marengo’s Ashtyn Martin won at No. 2 singles, and Olivia Pribyl and Jacqueline Snyder won at No. 2 doubles.

Crystal Lake Central 4, Grayslake North 3: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers swept the doubles matches for a 4-3 nonconference victory. Kenna Kessler and Emma Grindstaff (No. 1 doubles), Haley Steinberg and Olivia Johnson (No. 2), Ellyse Cruz and Lexi Holtkamp (No. 3) and Caroline Dayon and Lauren Fier (No. 4) won doubles matches for Central (2-0).

Belvidere North 4, Crystal Lake South 3: At Belvidere, the Gators lost in nonconference action.
