High school sports roundup for Monday, Sept. 9

Hayden Rudkin scored twice in Richmond-Burton’s win, 2-0, over Harvard in Kishwaukee River Conference boys soccer play on Monday in Richmond.

Aidan Hannigan and Ethan Demers each recorded assists to Rudkin, who scored one goal in each half. Jacob Maldonado secured nine saves in goal for the Rockets (5-3, 2-0).

Harvard dropped to 1-5.

Cary-Grove 3, Lake Zurich 1: At Cary, Anthony Warfield and Mateo Munoz scored goals for C-G in a nonconference win. The Trojans’ other goal came in the form of a Lake Zurich own goal.

Warfield scored on an assist from Jake Motz. Munoz scored on a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Sam Kedzior made seven saves.

Huntley 1, Rockford East 0: At Huntley, the Red Raiders (2-3-1) won in nonconference action.


Marengo 2, Byron 0: At Marengo, Lillie Simons had eight kills, five aces and four blocks for the Indians in a nonconference win over Byron, 25-14, 25-22. Isabella Simonini had seven kills and two aces.

Defensively, Kaetlyn Jeschke provided 10 digs and added two aces. Lilly Johnson had 18 assists and two aces. Mia Lulinski provided three blocks for Marengo (5-2-2).

Richmond-Burton 2, Harvard 0: At Richmond, the Rockets picked up a Kishwaukee River Conference victory, 25-11, 25-13.

For Harvard (0-4, 0-1), Desiree Brady had two aces, Dianayeli Plata had two digs and Alex Cooke had two assists. Brennah Briggs added one kill.


Richmond-Burton 194, Marengo 209: At Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, R-B’s Connor L’Esperance led all golfers with an 8-over-par 44. R-B’s Ryan Eskuri (48), Garasin Haley (49) and Alex Harrison (53) also scored for the victorious Rockets.

Tyler Nelsen’s 48 led Marengo. Kyle Northcutt (49), Brady Cannon (52) and Will Fischer (60) also scored for the Indians.

Cary-Grove 167, Hampshire 190: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Trevor Beaugureau and Michael Greenhill each shot a 40 to lead the Trojans to an FVC win over Hampshire. Other top scorers for C-G were Cole Seeger (42) and Joey Vitullo (45).

CJ Lindquist led Hampshire with a 44. Ethan Hammond (48), Payton Yee (49) and Jake Laube (49) also scored for the Whip-Purs.
