To the Editor:
Back in “It’s Your Write” on Aug. 15, a writer was “tired of the [Donald] Trump bashing.”
Should criticizing the president be censored, made illegal? The citizens of China do not have the rights of free speech, press and assembly. Is it bashing to simply quote the president word for word?
“Billions of dollars are pouring into the coffers of the U.S.A. because of the tariffs being charged to China.”
“And we’re not paying for the tariffs; China is paying for the tariffs.”
“We’re delaying tariffs to benefit Christmas shopping season.”
“We’re doing this for the Christmas season, just in case some of the tariffs would have an impact on U.S. customers.”
Trump as a candidate at many rallies: “And who’s paying for the wall?”
The crowd, now whipped into semi-mob frenzy, goes wild in unison, “Mexico!”
Time.com: “With $3.6 billion in new Defense Department funding, President Trump continues his plan to build the border wall with military money.”
I’m sure the rationale went something like this: Mexico, military … umm ... both start with the letter M – close enough.
Candidate Trump: “If I decide to run for office, I’ll produce my tax returns, absolutely, and I would love to do that.” – Ireland AM (TV show).
