To the Editor:
President Donald Trump and supporters are forever trumpeting how well the economy and the American family is doing under the president. What the president and members of Congress do not tell us is what our share of the national debt is.
As of Oct. 15, all Americans’ share of the debt was $69,213. The share of the debt for taxpayers was $185,215. With budget deficits exceeding $2 trillion for 2018-’19, the share of the debt for each person under Trump has risen significantly. At some point, this debt will have to be repaid.
While some economic numbers look good today, the long-range forecast for the economy and American families looks bleak.
