To the Editor:
Once again, we are heading toward war in the Middle East based on the pretense of immediate threats, and claims of taking out a bad guy. The Trump doctrine seems to be we can declare an arm of a rival government to be a terrorist organization, and then assassinate the leader of that group.
In Iraq, we went to war for ideological reasons, based on phony evidence of weapons of mass destruction. The result, tens of thousands of American and Iraqi civilians dead, at a cost of trillions of dollars. In Iran, we are going to war because it will help the president's re-election chances, again, with no real evidence of a threat presented.
Trump has made the world a more dangerous place in in the first few days of 2020. What will he do as the election approaches, and he falls behind in the polls? This is why it's imperative that Trump be found guilty in the Senate. I believe he'd do anything to get re-elected, regardless of what's best for America.
