A Cary teen will serve probation and jail time for a March crash that killed a 16-year-old McHenry girl.

Caleb Rohrbach, 19, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Lake County to aggravated reckless driving and aggravated driving under the influence charges. He was sentenced to two years of probation, and 20 months of intermittent imprisonment. He also must complete 200 hours of community service, Lake County court records show.

The crash happened on March 15 on northbound Route 12, just south of Case Road in Wauconda. Months later, police arrested Rohrbach on charges of aggravated reckless driving and aggravated driving under the influence of marijuana.

Rohrbach was traveling south on Route 12 in his gray Hyundai Elantra when it crossed the center median and entered the northbound lanes of Route 12, police said.

Sixteen-year-old Danielle Thomas was traveling north on Route 12 approaching Case Road when Rohrbach’s vehicle struck her vehicle head-on. Thomas died, and four others were hospitalized.
