Letter: Let's put the coronavirus outbreak in perspective

To the Editor:

Let's put this pandemic is perspective. My heart goes out to all those effected by this terrible virus and who have lost loved ones. However, let's put some realistic numbers to the data. On Feb. 10, 108 people died in China. By comparison 26,283 died of cancer worldwide, 24,641 died of heart disease, suicide took 28 times more lives than the virus did. Mosquitos killed almost 2,800 people and snakes kill 137 people every day.

Today 100 people died in the USA from coronavirus. Put those numbers in perspective. Can we say politicization?

Now, let's look at the states that have closed completely down. Democratically controlled for millennia, Run into the ground for millennia, no rainy-day fund and politicians that have drained Washington for their own financial interest, Illinois, New York, California and all of them looking for a federal bailout because they couldn't balance a checkbook. Oh and by the way they are all in the top 15 financially worst states.

JB Pritzker, why does the federal government have to order your masks? You were elected do to a job and obviously can not perform. Why didn't you order them yourself when you saw the pandemic coming? If the federal government has to take care of you, why do we need you?

It's time to wake up and smell the roses America. Money, power and greed is all they want. They don't give two hoots about you or what you want.

Drain that swamp, Donald Trump, and hold them all accountable.
