Sheriff's officers on Friday arrested a 28-year-old McHenry man accused of entering a woman's home and striking her with his belt.
Jonathan V. Tracey, of the 5700 block of Fox Lake Road, is charged with home invasion, criminal trespass to residence, criminal damage to property, and battery. The most serious charge, home invasion, typically is punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
According to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court Friday, Tracey entered the woman's McHenry home and struck her in the face, neck, and arms with his belt. He's also accused of causing more than $300 worth of damage to the woman's glass kitchen table, back door, bathroom door, and a wall, court records show.
The relationship between Tracey and the alleged victim was not immediately clear. Police believe Tracey entered the home without permission, knowing the the woman was home at the time, according to the complaint.
