A Harvard man whom police transported Saturday from Wisconsin to the McHenry County jail is being held on a $1 million bond.

Frank M. Amato remained at the McHenry County jail in Woodstock Monday. He would need to post 10% of his bond, or $100,000 bail to secure his release.

Lake Delton, Wisconsin, police arrested the 46-year-old last week in connection with a March 31 shooting in Harvard.

Officers were called about 9 p.m. to a disturbance in the 1100 block of Hayes Street. Upon arrival, investigators found a 37-year-old laying in the driveway suffering from a suspected gunshot wound to the neck.

A white truck was reported leaving the area, heading south toward McKinley Street after the situation, which remains under investigation.

The Harvard Fire Protection District tended to the gunshot victim, who then was taken to Mercy Harvard Hospital.

Amato, of the 500 block of West McKinley Street, is charged with attempted murder, reckless conduct and aggravated battery. He's scheduled to make a court appearance before a McHenry County judge on Wednesday.
